Introducing Mulligan Money: Your Golf Betting Companion

I built Mulligan Money because I was tired of the same problems ruining great golf rounds: score disputes, settlement confusion, and the inevitable "wait, who won the front nine?" debate in the parking lot.

Every regular golf group deals with this. You play a Nassau with your buddies, someone presses on hole 12, by hole 18 no one can remember who is up or down on which bet, and settling takes 20 minutes of awkward math and conflicting memories.

There had to be a better way. That is why I created Mulligan Money.

The Problem: Golf Betting is Broken

Golf betting in 2025 relies on:

• Paper scorecards with illegible handwriting
• Mental math that fails by hole 14
• Post-round arguments about who won what
• Venmo requests days later because no one settled immediately
• Complicated handicap calculations done wrong
• Group texts trying to remember last week's results

This friction kills the fun. Betting should add excitement, not create stress.

The irony: We carry supercomputers in our pockets, yet most golfers still track bets like it is 1975.

The Solution: Mulligan Money

Mulligan Money is an iOS app launching Spring 2026 that handles everything:

How It Works

Before the round:

1. Create a group or join an existing one
2. Select your betting format (Nassau, Skins, Wolf, etc.)
3. Confirm stakes and handicaps
4. Start the round

During the round:

• Enter scores after each hole (takes 10 seconds)
• App shows live standings for all bets
• Press in Nassau with one tap
• Track side games (closest-to-pin, long drive)
• Real-time leaderboards for group tournaments

After the round:

• View final results instantly
• Settle debts through the app (Venmo, Apple Pay, or manual)
• Automatically updates season-long stats
• Share results with the group

No spreadsheets. No group text debates. No forgotten debts.

I am not a tour pro. I am a 20+ handicap who plays once a month at most. But I love the sport.

The app handles scoring, handicap application, and settlement for each format automatically. No more wondering if you calculated Vegas points correctly or who has the Rabbit.

Handicap Intelligence

Mulligan Money understands handicaps:

• Import from GHIN or enter manually
• Converts index to course handicap based on tees played
• Applies strokes on correct holes using course handicap ratings
• Calculates net scores automatically
• Adjusts for match play versus stroke play formats

No more scoreboard debates about whether someone gets a stroke on hole 7. The app knows.

Settlement Made Simple

Post-round settlement is where most betting apps fail. They track scores but do not help with the money exchange.

Mulligan Money integrates settlement:

• Shows exactly who owes whom and how much
• One-tap payment requests via Venmo or Apple Pay
• Tracks settlement status (paid, pending, overdue)
• Season-long ledger showing net wins/losses with each player
• Optional auto-reminders for unsettled bets

The goal: Everyone settles before leaving the course, eliminating awkward follow-up.

Privacy and Security

Your betting data is private. We do not sell data, show ads, or share your information with third parties.

Groups are invite-only. No public leaderboards or forced social features. Your betting stays between your crew.

Financial integration is optional. You can use Mulligan Money purely for scoring and settle externally if preferred.

We take responsible betting seriously. The app includes spending limits, win/loss tracking to monitor patterns, and resources for anyone who needs help with gambling issues.

Why iOS First

Spring 2026 launch is iOS only (iPhone, iOS 26+). Android is planned but not at launch.

The decision: iPhone users represent our target demographic (affluent golfers ages 25-65). Building for one platform first lets us perfect the experience before expanding.

iOS 26 features we are leveraging: Advanced location services for course detection, wallet integration for payments, and enhanced sharing features.

Android users: Join the waitlist. We are tracking demand and will prioritize Android development based on interest.

Group sharing: One Pro subscription can cover a regular foursome if you split the cost ($1/month per person).

Why I Built This

I am Cody Barber, founder and engineer behind Mulligan Money. I have been playing golf for years and love the sport.

The idea came from a simple observation: every golf group struggles with the same betting problems. Score confusion, settlement debates, handicap miscalculations. I realized there had to be a better way.

I looked for existing solutions. Plenty of golf GPS apps existed. Plenty of scorekeeping apps. But nothing was purpose-built for the way golfers actually bet with their friends.

So I built it. Mulligan Money is the app I wish existed when my group needed it.

This is a passion project that became a product. I am not a VC-backed startup trying to disrupt golf. I am a golfer building a tool for other golfers who love competitive rounds with their crew.
