About Mulligan Money
We're building the app we always wished existed: one that makes golf betting as simple as the game itself.
Our Mission
To take the hassle out of golf betting so you can focus on what matters: playing great golf and enjoying time with friends.
Every golfer knows the pain points: arguing about Nassau presses after the round, doing mental math on hole 18, texting "who owes who?" three weeks later, and that one friend who conveniently "forgets" the bet amount.
Mulligan Money solves all of this. Automatic calculations, transparent tracking, instant settlements. No arguments. No confusion. Just golf.
Our Story
Mulligan Money was born out of frustration during one of my annual golf trips with the guys. Picture this: seven buddies with handicaps ranging from scratch to 25+, trying to keep track of multiple betting games simultaneously while actually trying to enjoy the round.
I'm Cody: engineer, founder, and admittedly, a shitty golfer. But what I lack in golf skills, I make up for in software development. Every year, my crew and I escape to golf destinations around the country. We love competing against each other, but with such varied skill levels, we needed ways to "even the playing field."
The problem? Our betting structures became insanely complex. Nassau with automatic presses, team games, individual skins, side bets...you name it, we tried it. By the 18th hole, we'd spend 20 minutes arguing over calculations, second-guessing who pressed on which hole, and trying to figure out who owed what to whom.
After trying every scorecard app on the market and finding nothing built for our use case, I decided to build it myself. Mulligan Money is the app I wished existed during those chaotic settlement sessions at the 19th hole.
Meet the Founder
Cody Barber – Founder, Software Engineer
I've been building software in the sports technology space for over a decade. Through my company, Gate City Labs, LLC, a sports technology software engineering shop, I've worked on everything from professional league platforms to consumer sports apps.
Mulligan Money started as a personal problem that needed solving. Every year, my golf crew (seven guys with handicaps ranging from scratch to 25+) takes trips to golf destinations around the country. The betting structures we use are complex: Nassau with automatic presses, team games, individual skins, multiple side bets running simultaneously.
As the engineer in the group, I became the default scorekeeper and bet calculator. Post-round settlements regularly took 20-30 minutes of argument, manual calculation, and confusion about who owed what to whom. I looked for existing solutions but found nothing designed for this specific use case.
So I built it. Mulligan Money is currently in development, designed to handle the complexity our group needs while remaining simple enough that anyone can use it. I'm building the app I wish existed during those chaotic 19th hole settlement sessions.
What Makes Us Different
Built by Golfers
Every feature is designed by people who actually play and bet on golf. We know the difference between a Nassau and a Skin because we play both.
Obsessed with Simplicity
Golf is hard enough. Your scorecard app shouldn't be. We obsess over making complex bet calculations feel effortless.
Privacy & Security First
Bank-level encryption. No data selling. We never see your money. Your rounds are your business.
Community Driven
We're building this based on real golfer needs. Join the waitlist to influence what gets built and help shape the features that matter most.
Our Values
- →Integrity: We never touch your money, never sell your data, never mislead users.
- →Transparency: Clear tracking, clear pricing, clear communication. No hidden fees or gotchas.
- →Responsibility: We promote healthy social betting and provide resources for those who need help.
- →Excellence: We obsess over details because golfers deserve great tools.
Why iOS First?
Honestly? Because my entire golf crew uses iPhones, and I needed something that worked seamlessly for our trips. Plus, as a solo developer, I had to pick one platform to nail first.
That said, I know Android golfers exist (and deserve great tools too). It's absolutely on the roadmap, but I'm committed to getting the iOS experience perfect before splitting my focus. If you're an Android user, join our waitlist. The more demand I see, the faster I'll prioritize it.
Building for Real Golfers
Mulligan Money is currently in development, with a planned Spring 2026 launch. The app is being designed from the ground up to solve the problems I've experienced firsthand during countless rounds with my crew.
The features we're building (debt simplification algorithms, offline mode, custom game builders) are all direct responses to pain points I've watched golfers struggle with. The debt simplification? That's for watching five guys pass around phones trying to figure out who owed what. Offline mode? Essential for remote courses with spotty service. Custom game builder? Because every group has their own house rules.
